Pastor Betty Brown

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5 – 6

Betty Brown, the third oldest of 12 children was born and raised in Canton, Ohio until her parents, the late Apostle Anderson Morehead, Sr. and the late Betty Sue Morehead were led of God to move the family to New York City.

Betty Brown’s early years are filled with significant blessings. Most importantly, the reception of the Holy Ghost during her Junior High School years!!! Also, Betty has a love for nursing eventually graduated from college and became a licensed Registered Nurse specializing in the operating room field of nursing. In 1962, Betty Morehead married James Brown, a minister at the Little Refuge, Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, located on 99th Street in Manhattan. Later on, Betty took a break from the nursing field to assume one of the greatest challenges and responsibilities of her life, motherhood! While pregnant, Betty Brown often testified and praised the Lord by saying, “When it looked like the sun wouldn’t shine anymore, God put a rainbow in the sky!” God blessed her with a healthy baby boy.

Because ministry is her first love, Betty Brown served in many offices 99th Street church. When Elder Anderson Morehead, Sr. was commissioned to pastor the Eternal Light Church in Mount Vernon, NY Betty accompanied her father and family and worked diligently in the service of the Lord. In the ministry Betty Brown has served in many areas: Missionary, Usher Board President, Local and National Sunday School Superintendent, Young People’s Director and nurse to the late Bishop John Morehead.

In 2002, Evangelist Brown was elevated to the office of Pastor, along with our other 3 Pastors. She holds the distinction of having served as the first Senior Pastor of the Co-Pastors of The Greater Eternal Light Church of the Apostolic Faith Inc., in the Mount Vernon church.
